Can you spare 10 minutes to hear a global innovator’s take on the future of our food system? Good. Here’s the link to Chris Baggott’s TEDx Indianapolis talk “The Simplest Way to Feed the World.

Chris Baggott is a serial entrepreneur and technology heavy-hitter turned farmer. Several years ago, he sold his mega software companies Exact Target and Compendium, headed back to his roots and began launching local agriculture-based businesses like Tyner Pond Farm and Husk.

His inspiration? Michael Pollan’s Omnivore’s Dilemma…and the staggering realization that Indiana—one of America’s most agrarian states—imports 97 percent of its food. Indeed, we have reached a point where four or five major multinational corporations control a staggering amount of the food chain.

Just as Baggott’s software was a game changer for e-marketers, his Uber-like vision for sourcing and distributing local fresh food is sure to disrupt the market.

At Conscious Eater, we’ll be keeping a close eye on this innovator.
